It might be a quick sketch drawn on a notepad, a photograph of a beloved place, or a heartfelt memory you describe in words. However you share your vision, we welcome it wholeheartedly. The more it reflects what matters to you or your loved one, the more personal and special the jewelry will become.

Our own Jaura Ring began its life with just such a spark of inspiration. Our founder, Mira, once searched tirelessly for a jade ring that felt both elegant and authentic, hoping to find a piece that honored tradition while still feeling modern. Every option she found fell short – outdated designs, lackluster jade, or pieces that weren't truly solid gold. Rather than giving up, she chose to create the ring she envisioned in her heart. Mira sketched out an idea where gold meets jade in a harmonious balance: a simple, refined band holding a vibrant jade stone. That personal vision – born from her heritage and her modern aesthetic – was the first step in bringing the Jaura Ring to life.

2. Design Together

With your vision guiding us, we move into a gentle and collaborative design journey. This is a calm, unhurried process – we believe beautiful things take time. In our bright studio (whether in Toronto or Montreal), you might find us sitting side by side at a drafting table or over video chat, transforming ideas into tangible designs. Sketches are refined into detailed drawings or digital renderings, and sometimes wax models are carved to bring the concept to life in three dimensions. Throughout this phase, we work closely with you to make sure every element feels right.

Designing together means every choice is made with intention: We discuss and refine the piece's proportions to ensure it looks and feels balanced on the body. We consider the metal finish – perhaps a high polish gold band that gleams in the light, or maybe a satin brushed surface for a subtler glow. We hand-select the gemstones (from lustrous pearls to rich green jadeite) that best embody your story and fit your budget. And we explore meaningful symbols or engravings that could be woven into the design. Nothing is rushed; every facet of the piece is thoughtfully weighed and aligned with your vision.

During this design phase, our role is as much about listening as it is about creating. We invite your feedback at each stage. Did the sketch capture the feeling you imagined? Would you like the gemstone a touch larger, or the band a shade thicker? We adjust and refine until everything feels just right. This slow, considered rhythm ensures the final design is something you absolutely love and feel connected to.

Often, our clients tell us that this part of the journey – watching their idea evolve and taking part in the creative process – is as rewarding as the final piece itself. 3. Crafted & Delivered

With a final design approved, the crafting begins. Now our master artisans bring their skill and heart into the process, transforming the design from paper into precious metal and stone. Every Aulyn piece is meticulously handcrafted in Canada, and we take immense pride in this local craftsmanship. In our workshop, gold is melted and poured or carefully shaped, jade and other stones are carved and set, and each angle and curve is attended to with precision. This is slow art – our jewellers might spend hours carving a wax model by hand or delicately setting a jade cabochon into its gold embrace. The atmosphere is one of focus and care, with the faint scent of wax and the soft sound of tools working gold. Through these deliberate steps, the piece truly comes to life under practiced hands.

As the final touches are added – polishing the metal to a shine or giving it an antiqued patina, inspecting the gemstone's setting for security – we remember the story behind this jewelry. It's not just another ring or necklace leaving our studio; it's a meaningful object crafted for a specific person and purpose. After quality checks and a loving polish, your custom piece is ready to meet its owner. We package each treasure beautifully (often in our signature box with a soft pouch), so that unwrapping it becomes an experience in itself. Whether we send it from our Toronto or Montreal studio, or present it to you in person, the moment of delivery is one we always cherish.
